Prerequisite for Adult & Youth (18+) Dinghy Learn to Sail Program

Participants are required to be able to swim at least 50 metres wearing a life jacket.

Course Structure

Start Sailing 1 consists of 2 classes and will run on Saturday 11 and Saturday 18 January, 9.00 - 16.00   
*A make-up session may be available should the weather not be suitable on the above dates.

How to Register

To register for this event, you will need an Australian Sailing Number.

Participants need to be either:

• Members of MMYC (you can search for your Australian Sailing Number here.)
• Non-Members*  You will need to register for an MMYC SAIL PASS for the duration of the course. 

(*If you have not been a sailing club member in Australia, you won't have an Australian Sailing Number. You'll first need to 'sign up' the participant for a temporary membership (known as a SailPass) and then log in and register using the username and password you receive via email.)

Fees

Registration Fee: $270, which includes the Australian Sailing Recognised Course fee and any RevSport Booking fees.

The Australian Sailing Course fee enables sailors to fully participate in the Australian Sailing programs, for their progress through the program to be followed and for their progress to be recognized. This also ensures that the number of participants at any time is appropriate for the level of supervision.

Once the program has commenced, the club will not be able to refund the course fee if the sailor is unable to participate.

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
