Course Structure
Start Sailing 1 and 2 takes consists of 18 sessions through January and Term 1 of 2023.
Every session time is 9.00am - 11.30 am on the following days:
January: (during the School Holidays) Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday.
February - April: Sunday.
How to Register
To participate in the junior program, you'll need to be a club member - which is $10 for Juniors participating. This course has a minimum age of 7 and max of 12 years.
To register for this event, you will need to log-in using your child's log-in details. If you've forgotten your child's login details, click 'forgot login details and they will be emailed to you.
Fees
Registration Fee: $350, which includes:
- Use of Club dinghies for the whole program
- Club lifejackets
- A club t-shirt
- The Australian Sailing Recognised Course fee,
- RevSport Booking fees
- Qualified Instructors and assistants.
The Australian Sailing Course fee enables the young sailors to fully participate in the Australian Sailing programs, for their progress through the program to be followed, and attainment of recognition of the progress they have made. This also ensures that the numbers of participants at any time are appropriate for the level of supervision.
Once the program has commenced, the club will not be able to refund the course fee in the event that the sailor is unable to participate in the program.
All participants need to be members of MMYC. Junior membership is $10 when participating in club training programs. Please contact Ian Gould to find out how to join:

Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 1 And Start Sailing 2 completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
