MMYC Sailing Update

Mt Martha Sailors Rock

Wow! A Taipan National Champion and a world class result in Moths.

Jamie Christensen fought off an extremely strong field to win the Taipan National Championships in Queensland. An outstanding effort that came down to the last race from what I understand. Ant Richards could have easily shared the podium with Jamie, lying 3rd with only a couple of races to go. But the God's were not so keen on the Richards campaign where breakages cruelled his final couple of races. He still finished an amazing 6th. Warren (Wazza) Morse was also looking like a top 10 contender before being struck done with a serious stomach problem finishing his campaign in hospital! Not even sailing the last 4 races he still finished a strong 18th. Lachy Cameron also made the top 20 despite not finishing the last 3 races.

MMYC Sailor Registration/Sign on

ATTENTION ALL MMYC SAILORS. VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE.

This season the Club is embracing a significant advancement in the Top Yacht Soring System. Top Yacht is our scoring and race management software. This will allow us to have On Water Finishes, Electronic Signing On and other significant improvements.

At first, establishing the new system may seem a little onerous to members but once up and running will be much simpler.

WE WOULD BE GRATEFUL IF ALL MEMBERS COULD REGISTER AS BELOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE EVEN IF NOT PLANNING ON TAKING PART IN THE INITIAL SERIES

INITIAL REGISTRATION

ALL SAILORS need to register with the Top Yacht Entry System, TES, before they can race. The initial registration will be for the Icebreaker Series. It does not matter if you will not be sailing in that series as it is a means to place your details into the Top Yacht TES Register

Member Survey - 2014/2015

Dear MMYC Member,

We are already looking forward to Season 2014-2015.

As has previously been the case, we are working very hard to try and improve the overall sailing experience for members sailing at Mount Martha. We are considering a number of innovations for next season that we hope will do just that.

Some of our objectives are:

· Reducing your requirement to do duty

· Maintaining the number of opportunities to sail

· On water finishes and scoring

· Plenty of race variety and opportunity for all sailing standards to succeed

· Continued skills training for major classes

· Increasing participation numbers

Again we would ask that you assist us in planning for next season by providing your thoughts through a survey.

It is vitally important that you have your say now before we start the real planning for next year. Surveys must be completed no later than June 13th, 2014.

Please go to to online Survey form MMYC SURVEY

Kind Regards,

Michael Thorn

Rear Commodore (in waiting)

STERNCHASER - Final Race of the Season

The final day of the season has cometh!

That's right, this Sunday 27th April is the final day of the MMYC 13/14 season, so join us for a day of festivities!!
The trophies presentations (which will run differently and more effeciently this year!) will kick off at 10am.
Following the presentations, we will have a lunch (please bring a plate to share) and a yarn, swapping stories of the season's heroics (or lack thereof!).
Following lunch at approx 2pm (perhaps earlier if possible) we will run our final race, the Figurehead Sternchaser. Make sure you dress your boat and yourself up with a chance to win a trophy for the best presented boat in each division. The race winner of each division will also receive a trophy at the completion of the day.
In short:
* 10am presentation
* lunch (please bring a plate to share)
* Figurehead Sternchaser (at the latest 2pm start)
